The conference takes place at the Health Innovation Campus (HIC) at Lancaster University — Bailrigg, Lancaster, LA1 4AT, UK — in lecture theatre A12.
Getting to Lancaster University
The Lancaster University website has a nice page with details on how to get there.
If you are driving, note that parking next to the HIC building is limited and you may have to park at the main campus, about 15 min away from the venue. Parking cost is covered by the organisation.

Pubs
The Study Room ➹
- The Study Room is a spacious, relaxed pub with a family-friendly atmosphere. They have plenty of indoor seating and welcome walk-ins for food. This is a good option if you’re looking for burgers, quesadillas or wraps. Drink options include wine, beer, soft drinks, and a large range of cocktails.
The White Cross ➹
- The White Cross is a pub situated next to the canal. There is a large amount of indoor seating and waterside seating in the case of good weather. There are a variety of food options for both lunch and dinner such as burgers, curries, Sunday roasts. Drinks available are cider, wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks.
Merchants 1688 ➹
- This former wine-cellar turned restaurant may be a good option for those who want to dine near Lancaster Castle. They offer a seasonal a la carte menu and a large selection of wines. Tables over six are asked to phone or email beforehand.

Gallico Lounge ➹
- These informal café bars are open all day, every day for long lazy breakfasts, brunch and lunch, or a relaxed dinner and drinks. They serve a wide range of food and drinks (including full kid's, gluten-free and vegan menus), served in a relaxed, welcoming space. A good place for tapas, burgers, pasta, milkshakes, or cocktails.
Etna ➹
- If you’re looking for Italian food, Etna offers a range of options including some for vegetarians. Notably, they offer pizza, pasta, and fish. Hot drinks, soft drinks, and a range of wines are also available.
Napoleon ➹
- Napoleon is a restaurant offering a range of Chinese food such as noodles, rice bowls, fish based meals, and meat based meals. They offer soft drinks, wine, and beer. Uniquely, they also offer facilities for karaoke.
Drinks
Ye Olde John O’Gaunt ➹
- John O’Gaunt is a historic pub that was established in 1871. This, alongside their frequent live music, creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. Some food options and a wide range of both soft and alcoholic drinks are available.
Runner Duck ➹
- This is a cosy independent, award winning wine bar in Lancaster city centre specialising in wine and deli boards. They think good wine should be accessible, affordable and enjoyed by everyone and love helping people find something they like.
Tipple ➹
- Tipple’s shining feature is their large range of handcrafted cocktails. On top of this, they offer carefully selected beers and premium spirits and are happy to provide recommendations. Situated directly next to the Runner Duck, this could be a good option for those looking for a range of options.
Cafés
The Herbarium ➹
- The Herbarium Cafe/Bar is 100% plant based, serving brunch, lunch, and evening food. They offer a range of creative food and drink options such as nachos, wraps, sandwiches, and hot drinks. Alcoholic beverages are also available.
Whaletail ➹
- The Whaletail Cafe creates a friendly atmosphere to try their food featuring seasonal local produce. They offer a range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. They have burgers, salad bowls, soups and more. They also offer hot drinks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
Cafe Dolce ➹
- Cafe Dolce is an independent cafe that specialises in afternoon teas, coffee, and brunch. They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options and offer classic meals such as fish and chips, pie, and baked potato.
Hotels and Accommodation
Lancaster University Guest Rooms
Guest bedrooms can be booked at the Lancaster University’s Bailrigg Campus. There is a limited number of these rooms and they are only available on Thursday night, so it is perhaps best to prioritise this solution for students.
